Years 0-3

As soon as your baby is born, it is important to start getting a passport from your embassy (and visa if necessary) for him or her. This can take some time (up to 4 or 5 months) especially considering all the documents you might have to gather so make sure to give yourself plenty of time. Make sure to pack extras for the plane including for the plane. Although a flight attendant will more than likely have something available, it might be a good idea to bring a first aid kit for those in between times when you’re not actually on the plane.

NOTE: Don’t forget to get advice about vaccinations from a doctor with experience prescribing medicine for travel. A travel clinic near you would probably be ideal.

It also might be a good idea to buy everything you need for the first month or so, and once you arrive and adjust, you can find the best children stores in your area or online sites to shop from. You can ship yourself things ahead of time as well so that it arrives a couple days after you do although that can get somewhat pricey. It would also be important to check ahead and see what kinds of things from home that you might miss in Korea. If you’re in Seoul, however, there’s a good chance you can find things from home (especially in Itaewon) although with a higher price.
